Parcels & Packages Tips
Some useful hints and tips when securing pallets, or securing your items for packaging such as fragile and handle with care items ready for transit. We handle all items with care but some items may need to be secured with ratchet straps or covered with blankets.

SECURING A PALLET
Squeeze about eight inches of the end of the wrap into a loose rope and thread it through and around a corner of your pallet. Tie to secure. Wrap around the base of the pallet keeping a consistent firm stretch on the film. Make sure you wrap it securely enough to ensure stability and to avoid anything falling off.
SUITABLE BOX, BAG FOR PACKAGING YOUR PARCEL
If this using a box it will need to be big enough for your item to fit into with a generous gap all the way around. Use a new box, as second-hand boxes may result in damage to your item, due to the box being weakened during previous use.

Cardboard boxes come in two main types, single or double-walled. Boxes of 30 centimetres (11.8 in) squared or greater should be doubled walled, also boxes taking items heavier than 5kg should also be doubled walled.

Bags such as Black bin-liners and thin polythene, standard shopping bags should not be used, a plastic bag will not protect your items from the bumps and knocks which come with courier delivery. You should package your items properly for shipping using the correct size Parcel bag.

PACKING PACKAGES & PARCELS
Material such as bubble wrap, polystyrene chips, polyethene foam or even shredded paper will cushion your items. This will prevent them from moving around and protect them from damage. Put fragile goods in the centre of a package; ensuring they don't touch the sides
PACKING FRAGILE ITEMS
Use filler like crumpled newspaper, or other cushioning material to keep your product from moving around. Wrap fragile products individually in a minimum 3" thickness of air-cellular cushioning material, and then fill any empty spaces with loose-fill bubble wrap or other cushioning material.
